Hi guys. I was on Paris last week, specifically on the top of Eiffel tower when my a55 suddenly stopped working. It says on the screen on that time "camera error" but now its not even turning on. Any idea what happened? Thanks for helping.

without knowing the error code, we could not begin to give advice on this. It could be anything from a battery failure, lens failure, shutter failure or less..or more. generally when a camera displays an error, it will also include some numbers with that error. That error number is what is needed to determine the cause.
Take it to a Sony service centre.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am going to bring it to Sony Center today.
Hmm! How not to enjoy Paris!
At least to the extent that lots there have the same problem.
That's about the best you can do. Even in the manual, "Help" is a rarefied gas. It offered the vacuous:
Bon chance! Aldrene.Camera Error
System Error
• Turn the power off, remove the
battery pack, then re-insert it. If
the message appears frequently,
consult your Sony dealer or local
authorized Sony service facility.

CC, Image editing OK.
Hello guys. I brought my camera 2 weeks ago at Sony World Centre Sydney and today I went in the Store to ask them what happened to it because they did not rang me for the past 2 weeks. The staff told me that they need to change the board of the camera which will cost me 498 AUD that includes the labor. I am thinking not to go with the repair and instead buy a new camera or a trusted 2nd hand one. I am very disappointed with what happened. Thanks guys for reading.

Hope this model gives you trouble-free usage...
Am.
Hope that you dont have any issues with this model. I would of thought that the SLT models had less moving parts.
I have an A100, A500 and A580 and have never had any issues at all.

You got a much better camera for your a55. I'm in the process of getting an a57 myself to replace my trusty a200.
Now that is sorted. Show us some photos!

Hi guys. Here are some of the photos that I took recently. C&Cs are very welcome. Thank you.
Sony a57 + Sony SAL 16-50, Aperture mode F4, auto iso, auto wb, processed in LR4
Good pictures. I'm sure the people at the party must be happy with them.
I'm having a "camera error" problem with my A55 right now and with me it looks like the shutter is stuck. I've seen a number of people reporting having had this problem. Do you know if this was also the case with your camera? I've been in touch with Sony (Netherlands) this morning and they told me they did not find any other such cases in their system. So I'm trying to get some references together to see if they can check if this is a common risk with the A55 or not.
