I found this and thought many would get a lot from it. It is in two parts and steps through the basic PP workflow using Lightroom.

The book featured, by Scott Kelby, "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 for Digital Photographers" is a must have. It cleary shows the program in photogs terms, albeit with his unique sense of humour throughout.
I recommend that you get a copy if you really want to understand LR. He also has one for PS3/4/5 & LR2
Also, he runs the LR Learning Center. Link is here (Free too!)

Just got back from EGypt Jordan and Syria and have over 6000 photos to sort through - need to get a better handle on work flow before I start. This sounds helpful.

I can also vouch for Scott Kelby's book "Lightroom 3 the book for digital photographers" . Very easy reading, a good bit of humor and most importantly very informative.
+1 for the Kelby book. If you are keen I also recommend the video tutorials by Matt K from Kelby training.
