Thanks broady. When I saw this I decided to get one and thought I'd get an expert opinion first, but Ken hasn't reviewed this one yet. Also I'm not certain that I'd be able to get a UV filter off ebay to fit the front of this.
Cheers.
I'm sure one of the rear filters will be the UV type, so you still get UV filtration if that was your end goal....
But, if it was for the purpose of protecting the front lens element, then I'm afraid you're out of luck!
I'm surprised by your comments tho, fillum!
You got the necessary $30K to blow on a single lens, and you need confirmation by KR as an 'expert opinion'?? ..... See Bjorn Rorslett for more detailed info.
ps. I know of a much lesser(FOV) 8mm f2.8 Nikkor currently for sale too.. in Melbourne.
While the 6mm has the ability to see behind you, without requiring you to move, I' can assure you that swinging around by 180°(if you want to see behind you! ) isn't all that difficult .. and it saves you nearly $30K!
how on earth is this 6mm, when you can see how long the lens is!! what magic must go on inside that...
G'day reaction
you ask "what magic must go on inside that..."
it's easy mate ... the smart people at nikon have employed a footy team of pixies inside that huge astro-bubble to run around with moon beams and get into all the far corners

Of all the stuff in a busy photographers kitbag, the ability to see photographically is the most important
