Hello,
I am looking at purchasing a 77mm ND8 filter new or used to help with my daylight Lightning photography. What would be the best filter to get? Or what would others suggest to be the better filter to get.
PS I don't want to go too expensive.
Hello,

I bought a Hoya HMC ND8 filter in 82mm size for my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM.
The filter cost $120.
77mm filters will be marginally cheaper.
I'd recommend going for a quality filter, such as Hoya's multi-coated (HMC) product line. Avoid the cheapies.

Where from?

Lee and B&W are also very good quality.....
I picked it up from Digital Camera Warehouse in Canterbury.
I've not used it much, though. I now have two Lee resin three-stop ND filters.
Mate that is false economy and tying your hands behind your back: why spend very good money on quality lenses like your 17-40 L then compromise your shot with cheap or semi cheap dodgy filters. Go for the best you can with the filter just as you would buying a lens and get high quality results. Go the Lee or Hoya HMC and pay good money for good filters is my advise.

thanks guys for the advice, muchly appreciated.
Heliopan is the best, no colour cast at all. Get them from B+H or Adorama. B+W is good too.

Lee are top notch. If you are out to save a couple of bob, go with the Hoya - though you only get what you pay for.
