I noticed an ad on the board of our local supermarket for a Canon 1000D for $200 in good condition with an 18-55mm lens. Can't find any mention of this model anywhere. If indeed it is in goon condition is $200 a good price?

Canon 1000d + Lens $300 used, new $500 from O/S
For $200 it seems OK, especially as the kit lens (I have an old one) wasn't that bad.
Probably a good start camera.
The 1000D was released in August 2008 and is the basic of the Canon models. You might be a little disappointed as it is now fairly older technology and has been updated with the 1100 and then the 1200. There is nothing you will gain over your 60D.

Put the $200 towards accessories (cards, filters...) or your next lens. The 1000D was bottom of the range when the 40D was current. You'd be better saving toward an 80D.
