haha arthur - I guess apart from my 2x extender, my 16-35 is my smallest lens too!

I'm evaluating the possibility of buying the 11-24mm, though the cost means that it would need to be a swap for my existing TSE-17mm tilt shift lens.
The TSE-17 is an incredible lens, but I find that I don't use its capabilities nearly enough. Occasionally I use the shift to keep buildings straight, or tilt to increase DOF, or shift to capture three frame panos.... but most of the time I'm just using it as a wide angle lens... albeit one that isn't actually that wide. I reckon I'll have more fun with an 11mm UWA lens.... decisions decisions...
Hi Widey, I suspect the TSE 17mm is probably better at shooting architecture, as it gives you the option to get geometries right first time "in camera", without having to correct them later in PP. However, there is a little bit of fiddling around with the TSE 17's various knobs - this both adds to the experience (I guess its immersive) but equally can interfere with spontaneity... really depends what mood I'm in .
I haven't tried the 11-24, so don't know yet from personal experience how it goes with buildings. Guess its a trade off: a few mm extra width vs no shift capability. Both cracking lenses.
Since my earlier post I've decided to make the swap, sell the TSE and buy the 11-24... hope I'm doing the right thing. Wouldn't be the first time I've had post lens sale remorse!
Thought I would return to this thread as I've now completed a swap of my TSE 17mm for the 11-24mm. It was a wrench to see the 17mm go (it is a truly unique lens) but it took just a few minutes with the 11-24mm for me to feel relieved that I'd made the right decision.
The 11-24 is insanely wide. Its an experience just alternating between normal eye view and the viewfinder.
Its a challenge to use - even the slightest deviation from dead straight results in huge perspective / convergence issues.
So far I've only had a quick test shoot walking around Brisbane - some examples below.
Note the 18 point sunburst! I was almost touching the statues' nose...

Good work T!
I'm guessing that it's similar to the Sigma 12-24 when it comes to wide.
Keeping your feet out of the capture area when shooting in portrait orientation will be something to watch for too!
The stopped down star burst highlight detail looks nice ... much nicer than the Sigma can produce
A question - what IS the best lens for a Canon camera for astro-photography, and in particular for Milky Way photography? I currently have a 5D3 and a 16-35mm lens.
^ Better to ask nicely. Most people don't respond well to threats.
