Bait marketing: Get them in, signed up for the deal, then show them how great that photo at 5x7 would look on their wall at 50x70 for $150.00. Do the hard sell and market like crazy. The whole concept of bait marketing is up-sell, even Macca's, KFC etc do it. Go in for a 50c soft serve and come out with a large chips, hamburger and super-size softdrink. If people are gullible enough to fall for it... and plenty are.

Thanks Rick for this useful and timely info!
The thing is: It is not "competitive" at all.
CC, Image editing OK.
Yes Rick I'd definately say that somehow once they had there hands on you they'd would certainly try to upsell something to you.
Though what the problem is, is that a lot of people would probably be happy with the package (and the 'tote bag') and free postage as it is.
It's putting into the minds of people that this is what photography is worth - peanuts.
interesting way of marketing
Furthermore - and this should have given it away - who has 32 friends with wallets?

I dont think this has anything to do with up-selling. This would be someone looking to build their portfolio and experience. No doubt they are trying to "get my name out there". No-one with enough business nous to even understand up-selling would be stupid enough to sell that many prints for that smaller price.
And no, I could not compete with that pricing. Nor would I suggest anyone try.
To print all of that would cost more than the $16.99, then add the Chinese bag.
Scam advert, hoping to harvest email, phone etc or serious high pressure sales pitch waiting to happen.
No it's definately not scam advertising or email harvesting.

Reviews Suggest It Is Bait Marketing
Well, 2nd-guessing gets one to Quarksville, so, so what. Hook airs? Ta 4 the original post, but then... I've got a dead horse that doesn't want to move.
If its too good to be true.. than it usually is........ obviously there is more to this than what there appears. Up sell for sure.
Simon.
