Hi all, I have a friend who recently received a Pentax kx as a gift but is frustrated trying to find decent lenses for it. She would like something that reaches about 300mm ideally. Any suggestions? I know very little about Pentax! Thank you!

Something in the 28-300 range might suit. Cost could be a problem.
Alive and still clicking - apologies to PSQ.

The pentax 55-300 is supposed to be very good, but I have personally not used it.
For longer lenses for Pentax, the Tamron and Sigmas' become better options.
I'm told the 18-250's are supposed to be good all rounders.
Me personally, I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8 and find it very good, but heavy. Maybe a little short, but with a 1.4 tele converter may suit. It kind of really depends upon how heavy and how much $$ your friend want's to spend.
Greg Bartle,
I have a Pentax and I'm not afraid to use it.

Thank you all I will pass on your feedback! She says she uses telephoto as her main lens but its not for wildlife or sports so doesn't need more than 300mm and guess as its her main lens probably needs it to be reasonably light!
The Pentax SMCP-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED is supposed to be a fine lens.
Seems like pretty good value too.
Please don't hesitate to provide me with CC! I'd love to hear your thoughts regarding any of my images. Thanks!
560mm/5.6 FTW
