Are you using a hardware calibration tool or just a software one with 'visual' checks? You should be able to adjust brightness etc in the control panel. Or if your PC uses an nVidia driver, the software for that can often assist.

Try to set your brightness using the 'fn' key first. Then use your gfx cards tool (nvidia) to finely adjust them. Also take note of when your either plugged into AC mains or on battery as the the later usually reduces brightness to conserve battery power. You can disbale that in power settings in windows' control panel.
