Here is a brief summary of the steps you should follow when capturing photos to stitch into a panoramic image
- manual everything! Use a fixed manual exposure
- use 50mm or longer Focal Length
- find an exposure that can deal with the lightest and darkest bits
- use portrait aspect (you lose a bit top and bottom - portrait gives you more to work with)
- remove filters, especially polarisers as these will give a strange cast to the sky as the angle changes
- level your tripod
- pan with tripod, use plenty of overlap (20-30% on each side)
- mark the end points
- figure out the software when you get home
