Hello everyone,

Wow this site has a lot of people on it which is great !

My story goes something like this... I was an working in the visual arts sector and I fell ill a few years ago with an unknown condition which limits my mental capacity and leaves me in a lot of pain physically. So after a long long time I have fallen back onto my art as I cant really handle classes or work environments as it exhausts me within 30 minutes. So I go at my own pace, painting, taking photos and am trying to build a body of work which I can both share and sell at some stage. I went to 2 different art schools and have studied many different practices. My friend is currently building me a website (which is not finished yet) where I will be able to have a blog, a shop, gallery and tutorials where I will share techniques on painting & photography that Ive learn't over the past decade. The past few months Ive been doing a lot of tutorials and home studies on photography on my computer on software such as photoshop, onOne, Tiffen, Lightroom, photomatix, NIK software... to name a few. And then general courses on composition, HDR methods and black & white.

I owned a D5100, sigma 10-20mm and Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 and recently sold the lot !!! to upgrade to a full frame camera and currently do not own a camera. I was about to purchase either a d700 or 5d mark ii when all this excitement came up about the d800 being announced 7th of February and the speculation if canon would release information on its 5d mark iii. So I'm waiting to find out more about these cameras before I make my decision on which FF I buy but it will be a body between $2-3k. I'm purely interested in producing landscapes, nature and architectural photographs. I also own about $600 worth of hitech filters and love using them... Ive got a new hitech 10 stop which is great.

So I look forward to coming to this site and sharing and learning with you all

Thanks Luke :th3:

Hello Luke :action66: and Welcome to AP so sorry to read about your illness though very pleased to see you are coping at your own pace.
Looks like you have been very busy with all those tutorials and home studies, you will be able to help us :th3:
I own a 5D Mk 11 I have had it about 2 years now and I really like it.. My Genre is Macro especially Insects. I know nothing about Landscapes.
Canon v Nikon its hard to choose between them at times as they are both good cameras.
There are plenty of Members on here that take the most beautiful Landscapes, you will enjoy looking and critiquing their work, so see you on the Forums.

Thanks Mary anne for the welcome :) My condition is a pain in the #@$ hahaha but Im learning to deal with it.. I prefer nikon myself and loved my D5100, BUT I've found that canon lenses overall are a lot cheaper than nikons in the FF range so if the 5d iii is announced next week and its comparable to the d800 I will purchase the 5d iii :-) but I would prefer to get a d800 if that makes sense :th3:

I noticed you are in Brisbane too !!! Most of my shots are around this area and to the north, the beerburrum state forrest and the glasshouse mountains... Here are some links to my galleries
