I've been meaning to get started on this site for a while, but have either been too slack or too busy to do anything about it.
I'm looking forward to posting some images, getting some constructive comments and posting some of my own.
I've been taking photos since the late Jurassic period (about 33 years), but only 'got in to it' since the advent of good inexpensive DSLR's (about 6 years ago). I went through a huge 'stale' period in the days of film, and was patiently waiting for the the digital revolution to arrive. It was just a matter of time before more megapixels and less expense would hook me in.
I think that I have learned heaps more about photography in the past 6 years than I did in the previous 27 years. But even though I might sometimes feel like I know a lot, quite often someone makes me think "Now why didn't I think of that?", or "Why didn't I know that? I guess that that is the beauty of photography. You never stop learning! I know, the same can be said of a lot of other pursuits, but to me, photography has it all, the science, the craft, and the creative dimension. All rolled in to one!
I am starting to be a bit more adventurous with my Photoshop PP, but still don't feel all that confident about my skills there. Everyone has there 'nemesis', and I think that PS is mine.http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif
My greatest love of photography is going out in to the wild and doing landscapes. I just love being out in the fresh air, away from crowds and traffic and just making the most of it. I love going to the South Island of New Zealand. It's a landscape photographers paradise. I have spent a total of 8 weeks there in the past 3 years and just don't tire of it. if anyone wishes to ask me anything about my experiences there, feel free to. I will be happy to share them.
I also like photographing architectural stuff, taking macros of 'odds & sodds' and anything interesting.
