That is a pretty dam fine photograph, exposure for all but the sheet music is great.
Can't be helped I know but it definitely draws the eyes away from all the great details surrounding it.
Still Really like this pic, I'm always impressed by big organs.

I made this photograph during a during a field trip to look at (amongst other topics) the parameters and limits of the Dynamic Range of the Digital Camera and also Hand Holding Techniques and making the best image, SOOC.
Obviously the balance is keeping the detail in the shadows and how much loss in the highlights and a small spot light on white paper in a dark room is a really good subject – the organ pipes and the pomp and circumstance of the building add more detail and more fun to the exercise.
I made three test shots and then pulled three shots, of which the middle shot (0086) was chosen.

It was difficult pulling back and controlling the Sheet Music, yes: but that was the exercise I had set and I always do the exercises myself.

FYI Specs:
Tech: EOS 5D, EF 85F/1.8, Hood, No filter
Shooting: F/2 @ 1/60s @ ISO400, Hand Held, Manual Mode, Spot Metering TTL - Manual Calculation of Exposure.
PP: raw > Photoshop

It looks a reasonably well balanced and well exposed image. However, you will have to practice much harder as you do not look anything like Santa in this image. :santa: :D

The 5D+85/1.8 is a seriously impressive combination, combined with your well calculated exposure settings has resulted in a great pic.
Not CC in anyway as this is NFCC thread after all, just admiring your efforts.

CAP: yes I like the EF85/1.8, especially on FF. And it is good at F/1.8 and has saved my bacon a few times, especially for some indoor sports shots where the F/2.8 zoom was stretching the ISO and Tv beyond acceptable limits. The 85/1.8 is one of the best, all-round, non L lenses Canon has made, IMO.
