How much do you want (or rather, are you prepared) to spend on it?
Sigma do a couple of pretty good fish-eyes, and they're a lot cheaper than the Canon.

I plan on getting the canon 15mm f/2.8
no brainer for me. the 8-15 would be great, but i can't justify double the price tag.
plus it's one stop faster, bonus!

the 15mm f/2.8 is nice. For $550-600 second hand it is pretty good, very sharp at 2.8 in the centre. I am not sure I could justify the pricetag of the L for such a specfic lens :)

Which one?
 8mm F/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye
 15mm F/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye
If the former then I agree, there’s not much else going; if the latter, then I would rather buy a new EF15F/2.8, before the market dries up.

I suggest you should try both of them shooting into the light - that's where I noticed the difference: and where the Canon shines, IMO.

wouldn't get that 8-15mm for your ff unless you want some nice back edges around your photo when you're shooting zoomed out.
I think it's better on a crop.

Bought A Sigma 15mm EX DG Fisheye online for $658, The lens is super sharp amd the auto focus is fast and smooth, If you are looking for an extra wide angle lens that has just a nice gentle fisheye effect, I do not think you could go far past this one. Very highly recommended.
