I bought one recently, a Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT and GH-100 pistol grip ball head. One of this sites sponsors, Digital Camera Gear, is selling them at a fairly reasonable price at the moment.
It's a very solid piece of equipment that extends to a good height without having to raise the column. The swivelling, multi-angle centre column suits me just fine for macro work.
