The subject of what warranty applies to which bit of gear comes up quite regularly on AP so as a reference point we will start a thread and try to present some information on the subject.

The term "international warranty" is also mentioned frequently particularly in relation to lenses and speedlights.

The term itself may cause confusion and may not necessarily mean that products bought outside of the Australian distributor network are covered under warranty in Australia.

If you require a definitive answer about international warranties contact the distributor in Australia of the brand of equipment you own or are thinking of purchasing.

The warranty information available on the 'net from the Australian distributors of the major brands ---

If this is legitimate, it looks like Canon are getting rid of their "International warranty" on lenses.

Canon worldwide stopped issuing international warranty cards on August 2010. So the last of the international warrantied lenses should be about expiring now. New lenses come with a Pink/red coloured local warranty card instead the Green international warranty card. From what i understand what a dealer told me, to rule out the possiblity of a lens that was left unsold for ages that still came with a green card, which could be what the post was about, As of a certain date they would stop honouring the international warranty regardless of when the lens was purcahsed.

this is a 4 year old thread, that happens, we cannot go back and fix links that are broken, we would be at it all day, everyday. It is the nature of the net that things change. If everyone had to make sure old stuff was still linking then no one would get anything new done.
