There doesn't seem to tbe a section in the AP Forum that explicitly addresses social aspects of photography.

A relative of mine has just been on a group adventure vacation. He wants to set up some kind of Web site or page on Facebook or PicassaWeb or MobileMe or somewhere so that members of the group can post their photos (perhaps organised in albums) for all to view. Members of the group cannot be assumed to be members of Facebook or PicassaWeb or MobileMe or whatever and may not wish to join. (My relative doesn't want to create his own Web site, that's way too much work.)

Can anyone describe their experience with this kind of (common?) situation and recommend a solution?

Many thanks.

Rodney

Thanks Odille. But can you allow NON-MEMBERS to upload photos to albums? This is the problem with other similar solutions.

Surely, only if you provided them with login and password. (??? As far as I know that's how most places like Photobucket work. My own Skydrive does. I don't know about blogs, but I can't see they'd be different.)

Then, would you want that? You are responsible for the site. Could you control what they put on? What if by some slip a completely unknown person got access and posted mayhem?
Am.

PS 4-got to add: it sounds like you'd be wanting a forum like AP.

Agree with Am. If you let visitors post without joining and say someone decides to post porn etc, you have no recourse, it goes under your name.

Keeping it to members makes them at least partially responsible cause you get an email address, username etc. So if the police did come a knocking, you can give them some information, enough for them to track down the culprit. Allowing anonymous visitors to post, is asking for trouble. Sadly we live in a time when there are some sick individuals out there.
