ill be heading to HK and im umming and ahhing about taking the dslr with me.
so the questions is if you had 3 lenses but could only choose 2 to take, what would you do?

nikkor 16-35 f4
nikkor 24-70 f2.8
sigma 50 f1.4

originally i was going to take the 24-70 + 50 for the night shots, but today i picked up the 16-35 and would think it would be great to take nice landscapes of the HK harbour at night. although im not so sure with the slow aperture and no tripod but then it does have VR

i have a inclase sling so i cant take all 3 with me as ill have no room.
decisions decisions :D

what would you do?

Too much overlap here really, but I would take the 2 zooms if these were all that is available to me.

you can just buy and cheap and decent tripod from Wing Shing Cameras in Mongkok for 20-30 bucks for the ubiquitous and cliche harbour shots:)

My thoughts too, or even just the 24-70 and do pano paste ups for wider scenes. A wall, rock, or cushion can do tripod duty. I take a handtowel in my camera bag so if I have to put it on the ground or other natural feature for a shot I have a clean (and dry) spot. Comes in very handy

24-70 and the 50
Table top tripod and the edge of a railing will do you harbour shots.
24mm will be wide enough for street stuff and zoom to 70 for details or potraits.
50 for night stuff in the streets and narrow dof
The two zooms would be too bulky for me and 16-35 is too short.

Are you shooting DX or FX?
24mm's quite wide but not ultra-wide for FX and I think it should suffice. So the 24-70 and the 50mm if you're shooting FX
