Hi All,

Whilst i am saving for my 100mm macro, i have decided a close up lens attachment would be a good interim measure.

i require a 62mm to attach to my new Tamron 70 - 300mm.

Can anyone please recommend the best type of close up lens attachment.

i have been told that Nikon no longer make the 6T.

Thanks.

Regards, Sonja

Apparently the Canon 500D close up lens is very good. :)

Hi Sonja.
This question has been asked before but I couldn't find any thread quickly. I have had a few of these over the years, +1D, +2D, that's f=1000mm and f=500mm respectively.
A CU lens (or filter) limits the maximum focus distance to that of the CU lens itself. They also allow you to get a bit closer to the subject.
If you get a cheap one, a single meniscus lens, typically, you'll be almost sure to get some chromatic aberration (amongst others).
If you opt for a corrected doublet type then the cost goes up.

OK, so the "best" type would be a corrected doublet, but I would wonder whether it's worth it. Here's a link that will explain a bit more.
