Hi I have a canon 450d which came with two kit lenses, a 18-55mm efs and a 55-250mm ef-s lens I never seem to get a very sharp picture no matter hw I try and focus so my question is do I need a different lens or am I doing something wrong please help

Some information of what shutter speed and f/stop would help, also if a tri-pod is being used.

Could you post a few samples? When you say "never seem to get a very sharp picture" is pretty vague... it all depends on how "sharp" is defined. (And we can also peek at the EXIF info to see what settings you're using.)

I probably have the exact same kit lenses with my 500D, and I haven't noticed any problems.

Does the problem get better or worse when you have autofocus turned on? Do you get a different result in bright light with a low ISO setting than you do in dim light with a high ISO setting?

Its really not likely to be the lens as said....lets see some examples

Keep your shutter speed over 1/200s, increase your starting iso to 400 and try some shots
