Hey All
After some more help please..
After picking up lightroom 3 this arve after work and very quick trip home to play around with my new toy..
After downloading which all went well i think...
wanted to import some pics from my d700, and well something isnt right cant seem to find anything representing the d700 .
i previously would be able to open the pics in my computer and there they usually would be as well as in view nx and not there as well...
So im thinking maybe ive missed something along the way. as its has all seemed to happen after downloading lightroom..
I have been trying to do my own research on all the threads but havnt found anything yet..
ive got the camera connected to my laptop via the usb cable just in case this makes a diff
Any help would be awesome

Can you see the d700 as a disk drive in explorer ?

Hmm, tried a card reader ?

I'd say reboot and reconnect, seems a USB port issue, I doubt whether lr install is the issue

Correct me if i am wrong but the D700 does not support direct transfer via USB (ie USB disk mode), you need to get the card out and use it with the lightroom import utility. Or did i miss the point and you are talking about tethered shooting?

Ollie, the d3 does, I don't have a d700 though and viewnx saw the camera earlier ?

Yeah i just did some googling and all i can find is that D700 does not support USB Disk mode but transfer can work with ViewNX or captureNX. Tethered shooting is supported in LR3. ???

Having said that i have not found a reliable source for that statement....

Quite right, how dumb. There are several sources saying d700 does not support mass storage, so, viewnx should still work though, or more specifically the nikon transfer software

If this is the case guys that i would need a card reader, i dont really understand why files used to come up in my computer but no longer do..

Nikon software should still
Work, it's probable its now no longer doing this automatically as the lr install will override it probably, you should be able to still do it manually

In any case a sandisk card reader us the way to go, I find using them a lot more convenient than direct from camera

Thanks for that kiwi will give it a go and see how that works fingers crossed...
Just another bit of info just thought to give my d80 with raw images on the card and it works no worries so has to be something to do with the d700 i guess.
