To prevent camera torture; please solve this problem.

I'm trying to get footage off a camera (fujifilm S5700). The problem is,
1 - I have a card error.
2 - Whenever i try to format on the camera, it just resets the camera and goes to a black screen.
3 - I have no idea if formatting the camera will even solve my problem, i have a program to recover, but does it work with .avi files?

Basically; i'm 99% sure the camera will be thrown at a wall shortly.
Mum trying to suggest another computer will read the card isn't helping my temprement.

(I was kidding about the camera torture bit, just so you know :) )
Please help !!!

sorry but its not the camera:)

XD cards are the most problematic and very prone to errors - used to do card recoveries every week for customers when I used to work in a photographic store - always the XD card hehe

no idea why Olympus is sticking with it, its more exp than SD and crash a lot

the program to recover will recover any format on the card, but because its a video clip......chances are it might not be able to recover the full length from beginning to end, because when I do recoveries, sometimes I get half a photo back, or even a 1/4 of an image:)

So i'm guessing its a literal impossibility for me to recover the files? :(
Because i can't actually format the card; and as the card is corrupt, the computer won't read it.
There's no other possible solution?

When I had a digital camera a few years ago it took xD cards and I had major issues with it, I would say it is all gone. :(

like i said before, a card recovery program can access it and try to restore the data on the card, it will take a few hrs to run it depending on the size of the card - you can dl some free programs on the net

Could you explain briefly how the program would access it?
As my computer won't recognise that the camera is plugged in at all; so i don't understand how it will pick up on the program..
