Thanks for letting me join the group. I've been into photography in one form or another for about 40 years purely as a hobby. In 1998 I bought my first Digital still / video camera - a Sony TRV900 with its amazing 3 sensor imaging system and a whopping half a megapixel sensor. :) Photos and video were stored on Mini Digital tapes.
About 6 years ago I got a bit more serious when I bought my first DSLR - a Canon 70D. Soon after a friend of mine in New Zealand told me about this thing called "astrophotography". Once I tried that I was hooked ! I also enjoy storm-chasing photography when time allows.
I shoot with Canon cameras and mostly Sigma lenses. For my astrophotography I use ZWO cameras cooled to -15 degrees C and also a highly modified "CentralDS Canon 6D" which is also cooled and has its filters removed. (cooling greatly reduces sensor dark noise)
I am looking forward to being part of a group that isn't on Facebook !
