Hi All.
It seems that after a recent Windows 10 update, the Alt Code feature no longer works.

Now all I get with a (press LHS)Alt key + keypad number sequence is just the default :confused013

Has anyone got the same problem? Has anyone found a fix (like I haven't)?

a test shows .... 6° of separation (or the current C temp in my area) .. is working fine.

Alt + 248 gives you the ° symbol.

I've tested some others too, they all seem to work. ☺

The assumption is that your Num keypad/and or lock is working?

All good here after I read that you had to use the Numeric Keypad and not the row of numbers above my QWERTY keys....;)

Cheers

Attached is a very simple text file with a list of the characters you can get with using Alt+number that I created way back in 2004.
Had I been smarter, I wouldn't have spent my 'youth' in such a futile endeavour .. and just googled for it and easily found the same thing downloadable.

Ah!.... but it was 'fun' making all those symbols and characters at the same time.

I can't recall exactly when I first noticed the alternative to using Alt+number, maybe t'was Win7 had the character map feature installed. I can't ever recall it in WinXP, although I think someone mentioned it WAS there.

Windows -> Windows Accessories -> Character Map. Same thing .. more feature rich in terms of the number of characters available for use.

AK, I checked the Character Map before and noticed that some symbols had associated Alt codes
while others didn't.

Here's Alt-0202 for instance: Ê

Yet Alt 228 no longer yields the capital Sigma and has no associated code displayed, and gave just :

I've got to restore the missing ones someh:confused013w.
