This is from an email from Kylie, a member of the Rockhampton Photography Club.

"I was just watching a Youtube video of a photo planning app - its Google Earth Pro, but probably not how most people have ever used it. Here's the link to the around 10 min video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3YQjoOxvXw&t=27s

It uses Google Earth Pro (free, download onto computer, functionality not in the web or mobile versions) to let you predict when the sun will rise above 3D obstructions like mountains and buildings, or what light you'd expect at a particular time of day from a particular viewpoint. Instead of street view, you select ground-level view, which renders the scene in 3D and you can navigate along in there, use the zoom level to get an idea of focal length views. To control the time of day, you set a particular time and date and use the slider to move the time along. You can see rendered shadows, light, and the sun etc. Doesn't integrate with any weather apps to show what predicted clouds might look like.

It apparently works for anywhere on the planet day or night. At night it'll render the milky way to see where it sits in the sky."
