Couple of shots of the Townsville dam and a weir below the dam, the dam went from 60% to 240% in 9 days many people have lost everything in the flood.

A phenomenal amount of rain - especially for Townsville. North Queenslanders are a resilient bunch but it is still a very tough time. Best of luck to those affected.

Having lived in Mackay for 40 yrs, I love a good wet. However even I am starting to think a bit of sun would be nice, so can understand how you must be feeling.
The weir looks like Aplin, my son in Tvle said that at peak Aplin was 2 meters over the crest, wow.
An engineering thought is that RR dam was discharging about 700 cubic meters per second from a small catchment, while the Murray River at Hume Weir near Albury is estimated to discharge 1700 cumecs at major flood level from a vastly larger catchment.
Looks like no relief for a few days yet:(
cheers marty

2000 cubic meters a second over the dam wall,,,,,,the dam was at 18% same time last year.

2 looters got sucked down a drain and died running from the police,,,,,,,i have an opinion on this but will keep it to myself.

Very spectacular, and obviously worrying for locals. Hope it eases up soon.

And I agree with the opinion that you keep to yourself. ;)
