I was playing around with Canon’s “Camera Connect” app (on our Apple iPod 5th Generation) and the Canon 5D Mk IV. The connect via Wi-Fi process seemed straightforward.

However, the 5D Mk IV would not AF via the iPod, the error message indicating that some Custom setting was active, so it would not AF.

From memory, I’m pretty sure the error message was related to Custom Control and not Custom Function, Custom Quick Control or Custom Shooting Mode (C1, C2 or C3).

Anyhow, I performed a re-set (Custom Controls only) and set the Custom Controls to their Default and hoped for the best.:)

Sure enough, it worked, and I could now AF via the iPod Touch.:th3:

But, I “lost” my bespoke “Custom Quick Control” screen (Q Button). However, I found it again – it had not bee re-set, just replaced by the Canon Quick Control Screen, so I unchecked the Canon one and my Custom Quick Control Screen displayed instead.:)

From memory, the only Custom Control I can recollect experimenting with, was switching between AI Focus and AI Servo.

Cheers

LOL! - thanks Jim, I was looking to use the iPod Touch as a wireless remote which it now does very well, including remote Live View with adjustment of certain camera settings.

Couldn't find a wired remote with a cable length of 300 feet.;)

Cheers

Just so, Dennis. They haven't made 300 foot cables for nearly 50 years. Sadly, you just can't buy them anymore. I've tried, but the shops only carry hundred metre ones.

Initially, I was snookered.:confused013

The iPod Touch has Bluetooth (4.1), the 5D Mk IV does not.

The 5D Mk IV has NFC, the iPod Touch doesn not.

But.....both have Wi-Fi.:)

Cheers
