I get most of my bird photos at our local wetlands. Because of this I'm now on the steering committee for the wetlands.
I was asked to provide some photos to be placed in the two bird hides at the wetlands. And this brings up a problem in this easy access internet world. I asked "what if I require payment for my photos you like?" Seems like councils budget doesn't cover that when there's so many free options out there like Birdlife Australia who are prepared to supply photos with their accreditation.

Anyway the signs have been made and installed. I argued that to much info over just presenting the birds doesn't really engage non-birders. Defeated.
Not to worry. This is how the signs look in one of the hides.

Good stuff Mark.

Do you mind if I show this to my local wetland group?
Like you I've been roped in as part of the committee, we hope to have a new walkway and hide in the next 12 months and something like this would be useful.

Well done Mark. That would have to be the most comprehensive wildlife signs I have seen.

I have donated my wildlife pictures for similar projects many times over the last decade or so. Never yet had the slightest cause to regret it.

(Though I do get a bit narky when you donate 20 or 30 pictures and they can't even be bothered sending you a thank-you note with a sample or two of the brochure. Thankfully, this thoughtlessness is uncommon, I've only met it a couple of times. It's not even that I especially want a sample of the finished product, it's just that one doesn't like to feel taken-for-granted.)

Just relax. If you want to get rich, take pictures of something people pay money for pictures of.

Congrats, Mark. Nice achievement. I imagine it’d be pretty cool to turn up to this location and see your own work on display for all. :)

Looks good Mark and a credit to you. Hopefully we'll revisit Mudgee in the next year or two and I'll get to see it first hand.

Good work Mark. I can't see the point of taking photos if no one sees them. At least this way your photos are being well utilised and being seen by interested parties, even if there is no financial reward.
