Here are a couple of snaps showing the damage at Collaroy.........sadly my friend's house is the one next door to the house that lost it's pool.......the green grass behind the pool is all that's left of her garden. Yesterday she was allowed to enter under police escort for a max of 15 minutes, they didn't even let her go outside and retrieve her out door furniture. She is more fortunate than most of the other houses along that strip as her house was set further back from the beach than the others.

Very dramatic shots ktoopi, a life changing event. Interesting to see that the property with a rock wall survived. I wonder who's decision it was to stop the rocks there, or are the rocks washed under the sand?

Wow! Thanks for sharing... I can't get over that pool, solid concrete, and massive, being ripped out like that!

I don't watch the news (or TV often) so have missed most of the footage for the recent storms. I did see some of the pics of the waves smashing up against the rocks and still getting the houses 7meters high up the cliff wall..

These are some dramatic results you have captured.
Thanks for sharing.

So sad to see these images Karen even so Thank You for Sharing, and hopefully all is well with your Friends..
That would break my heart if it was our house.

I'm so impressed you know someone that lives in Collaroy Karen.:D;)
On one hand this is sad. Why would you have a pool when you live so close to a beach?
On the other hand there were protests ages ago to not put up seawalls as that would effect the beach.
Whatever, good documentary photos Karen. Like the first and last.

I thought of you over the weekend Karen knowing that you lived on the Northern Beaches - I hope you came out of the storm in tact. Your friend was very lucky to come out of it with just some of her backyard missing. It will be interesting to see if the Insurance companies pay out - probably not I would think.

LOL Mark.......having a friend who has a house there is the closest I'll ever get to owning a house in on the Collaroy beachfront!!:D:D and even if I do win lotto one day....I wouldn't buy there anyway :)

We were quite lucky this time around Nellie.....our bathroom skylight was ripped off (while I was on the loo:lol:) and one of our enormous trees dropped several tree sized branches all over ours and our neighbour's fences....flattening the fences but no serious damage. Neighbours three doors down not so lucky.....huge gum tree crashed through their house. Luckily no one was home as it sits empty during the winter.

Thanks Mary Anne.....it is sad and what makes it even more sad is seeing in the news people saying things like they deserve it because they can afford a house on the beach front etc......
Luckily my friend doesn't think her house will be one of the condemned ones

Sorry to read that Karen they probably worked hard and saved even harder to get the house of their dreams.
Good News about your Friends house underpinning should fix that and I hope it does not cost a great lot, though I bet they up the prices in certain areas.
