Nikon has announced the Nikon D5 – price tag £5,199.99/€6,989.00 and a March release date – which boasts a new 20.82-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and offers 4K video recording.

Among the most significant features on Nikon’s new flagship camera is 4K/UHD video recording. In an upgrade over the D4s, the Nikon D5 can shoot 4K movies (3840×2160 pixels) at 30p/25p/24p in dot-by-dot native pixel crop, as well as Full HD (1080p) video at up to 50p/60p in multiple formats.
The Nikon D5 promises strong lowlight performance, with a native ISO range from 100 to 102,400, which is extendable up to a staggering ISO 3,280,000 equivalent at the Hi 5 setting.

Looks like the logical progression to the Nikon top end bodies in the seemingly never ending tech advance in cameras.

They will sell plenty of them to those who truly need what is on offer.

The thing I like about seeing this sort of tech is knowing it will be in lower priced bodies within 2-3 years.

Ahhh this is the culprit that kept me awake at night for a week LOL. I've seen the delicious specs, but what really hooked and reeled me in was the high ISO sample shots. Unless some $10,000 fell from the sky, for now the plan is saving up and waiting for the price drop. Sigh...
