But what if some drugs make their photographic insights better?

Alcohol doesn't help these days and I gave up all the other stuff before I got into photography.:(

I not too sure about kids but I never had enough money until they were gone.

For drugs, or camera gear ?

Yes between food, school and sports they keep one's wallet empy that's for sure....which is why most of my gear was bought second hand and ranges between 4 and 20 years old :D
Scary thing is I worked out that I could have bought a brand new D4s with the money kids sport will cost me this year (that does include travelling to watch them compete mind you - which is our personal choice I guess)

But if one buys wisely, one can still have inexpensive but quality gear that takes a good shot.
As one lady at a rowing regatta said to me recently about my 7 year old camera & 20 year old lens "wow, your camera takes nice photos" It does indeed. I just need to be there to point it in the right direction :lol2:

Even better, set the camera to use the AF-On button for focus(which I reckon you probably already have anyhow) .. give it to her and say, "here you go, show me" ;)
