I know I can not post any photos I took there, even if one of the things I was most interested in was not even tennis. One of the photographers was testing something top secret that was hidden within a box mounted on a Canon monopod and with various Canon lenses attached. He was clearly testing a new lens as well, as one of the ones he was using was hidden inside a tube. I was close enough to catch a glimpse of the camera a couple of times when he opened the box to change settings, but not close enough to get a proper perve or to see if he'd give any teasers as to which rumoured new camera it was or what the lens was.

Why can you not post shots from there ? (apart from the tennis obviously)

Everyone loves a good conspiracy RJD. :D

I really think that what you were seeing was a sound deadening box to lower shutter noise, they are quite common when cameras are close / ish to tennis players and golfers.

It might have even looked something like this ---- http://petapixel.com/2013/06/07/build-a-diy-sound-blimp-to-silence-your-camera-for-less-than-100/

cause the conditions of entry state photos taken are for personal use and not to be placed on the Internet. the conditions are not specific to the players, most A grade sporting events have these clauses,

Do they use sound blimps at the tennis? I know they do on movie sets.
Maybe they are required to use it during serve, but I'd only be guessing.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't that. If it was, he was the only one out of the dozens there doing it and only with the one body and one lens. Everything else he used was out in the open.

Plus, much of the time he was not down on the court, but up on the walkways between stadium levels. I've been going to the tennis for a few years and have never seen it before.
