Hey everyone!

Looking for a bit of advice here. Cleaning my lens yesterday I noticed a bit of dust on the inner glass. It's not too much but in the right light it's sure noticable.

As I work in Perth's CBD I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a place close by (i.e. lunch break walking distance) that specialises or can do lens cleaning?

If you do know of a place and have used them let me know what to expect. Does it take a long time? Is it costly? Do I need to ask specifically what I'd like done or is it like a car wash: Put your money in and let it happen.

Thanks!

Bill

You could try Team Digital in Stirling Street or Camera Electronics.
Both a bit of a walk but a short bus ride.

Do you mean that you can see the dust inside the lens or is the dust noticeable in images shot with the lens?

Most lenses have some dust in them, it's quite normal and it usually makes very little difference to image quality.

Thanks Peter. I'll look into those.

John: The dust certainly isn't noticable in the photo's (I'm fairly certain), but when I was angling the lens int he light to ensure the outer lens and filter were clean I could see it when the lens was held at certain angles.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

There's hardly a lens that is completely free of dust. If there was lots of dust then that would scatter light and lower contrast. Dust might also appear as spots in the out of focus specular highlights.
