nikon DF & old lenses

Have just bought a DF and a Nikon 35mm f2 ais , 28mm f2.8 ais. I am very impressed. i have had many cameras and this
Has to be one of the best. i sold an D800e to purchase this camera and and i am not regretting it.

Interesting thoughts.

Can you please explain why the camera and the older lenses ( going by the supplied images ) are that much better than any other Nikon body and supplied kit lens.

I used manual Nikons some years ago, i then changed to Leica M6 film for a number of years which i enjoyed. Leica unfortunately priced me out of the market when they went to digital,it was too expensive so i changed back to Nikon . i find using a manual camera more challenging and more satisfying. I have used and owned some of the best lenses in the world namely Leica and Zeiss and i think Nikon is up their with the best of them .

I would love to see larger versions of your photos. These are 528/529 pixels on the longest side, we allow up to 1024. Bigger lets us see more. At present they look slightly over-saturated and sharpness does not look the best, but at the size presented it is hard to tell.

I have been trying to get the correct size to upload ,but i every time i use the measurements of 1024 it tells me the file is too big. Any advice.

It is not my software that is telling me the file is too big.

It's (probably) not telling you that it's too big(size), it's (probably) telling you it's too large(filesize .. Kb's)

Can you resize the file to 1024pixels AND keep the file to under 249Kb?

I have not been able to do that without going to a smaller photo, maybe i am doing something wrong. Any advice would be welcome.

Without knowing what software you use ....

I'll just babble on about how I do it.

My preferred editor is either Nikon's CaptureNX2 or ViewNX depending on how much work I think I need to do.

Using them, I can get my D800 files(70-90Mb NEFs) saved as 1024pixel, >250kb files in using these settings:

Save to jpg, ~75% quality.
This is for full colour images, and mono images usually around 200kb.

Some images tho, just won't save anywhere near 250kb even if I take quality down to 50% or less .. where they obviously look bad(quality).

So I save the NEF in a full res high quality jpg file first(usually over 5Mb, usually 10Mb or so.
Then I use FSViewer, and simply save as again, but this time with the 1024pixel size I want, and then use the 'quality slider' in FSViewer and keep reducing until I see the expected file size at >250kb .. usually around 80ish%

FSViewer is a free download.

** I see that you use CS5 for PP. I'm sure somewhere in there is a quality slider tool for when saving jpg files.

I have been using Capture NX2 & photoshop CS5 ,as CS5 will not handle the Nikon raw i have been going from NX2 to CS5. Thank you for your suggestions, it is not as though i am not used using software as i have an XPRO1 and three 3 Sigma Merrill cameras so i am sure i will figure it out soon.
