In amongst the HOORAYS! and Fireworks! that adorn the pages of the on-line news sites, I found the following article.

http://news.optuszoo.com.au/2014/01/01/first-close-look-at-alien-earth/

(Don't worry about the corporation whose page I found it on, as it's the basic article I am reffering to.)

Well, piqued (or is that Picard?) by the title, I read the article.

Well, they may as well have been talking about giraffes. I could not detect any relevance to the title, nor any science, either.

In short, just a whole page of GUFF!

Essentially, here's an "earth" that's nothing like "our" earth, and in fact of which we know very little at all, but hey! Did you "like" the article?

Oh well, imagine where a Ph.D in such science could lead!:eek:

Now after that, a large dose of happiness for the rest of the year.
Am.

I read that article about 30 minutes ago. Loved how they praised the Hubble for being able to look at this planet, but still could not tell if it was a real planet, a heap of gases, or anything else much about it. Seems to me that they really know nothing more about this object than they did when they started their 'experiment'.

Sadly, this style of "reportage" counts as "news". (Hang on, isn't "noise" close to "news"?)
