Hi,
I'm a new member here. Having owned only small compact cameras until now, for all intents and purposes I'm a beginner.
I used my girlfriend's Nikon D3100 for a couple of weeks, and very soon knew it was something I wanted to get into further... and that sharing a DSLR was not going to work!
I decided to get something I'd grow into, and I've bought the D7100 with Nikkor 18-140mm lens (and the cheap and cheerful 50mm f/1.8D to have a play with).
I found and joined this extremely site last month while I was researching what to buy.
I'm looking forward to learning lots more here.
Cheers,
Matt.

Thanks for the great welcome and encouragement :)

I'm travelling for a month or so from Christmas, and I'm hoping to come back with some nice shots.
In hindsight, I would have been better getting my camera some 6 months or so ago to give me time behind the camera, and to learn.... but that's not the way it happened, and the only way is forwards now...
I'm taking some long flights and will be without internet for some time, and I was wondering if there is a pdf of the AusPhotography New To Photography Book available?... or can anyone recommend any paper books worth reading for a beginner?

Cheers,
Matt.

We do not have a PDF of the New To Photography. However, get Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson, great book for beginners.
