Got this link sent to me today from a place called "Shipsterns" Great scenery and Rock formations with real good surf , Just wondering why not more Hobartions dont get to shooting this place , Looks excellent for Sunrise shots and some surf action , View with big screen and turn the sound on , Worth the 1hr walk

remember this is Tassie, weather changes every hour. We could set off in sun in summer and be snowed in 2 hours later, and hope you like leaches and snakes.

I'd love to get to Shipsterns but I really don't know if I am up to it. Can you get in by boat, Rick?

you can, but you cannot come ashore. All of the surfing done down there is via boat and jetski with them being towed into the waves. The bluff is sheer cliff with no access points from the water.

Here is some more. In May 2011 one of the world's biggest waves was recorded at Shipsterns.

it is also recognised as one of the world's most dangerous places to surf : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipstern_Bluff

Most photography done is from on board boats or jetskis

I love Shippys.

I had a mate who would surf there all the time. His vids were insane.
