Hi everyone, Brian is my name and I live in the north east of Victoria (Wodonga). My current weapons of choice are a second hand Canon 10d and a couple of old lenses, EF 28-80mm 3.5-5.6II and an EF 75-300 4-5.6III. Not the top of the range stuff but I am looking at buying some new lenses in the short term and a new (or possibly second hand) camera after that.

On that, I had no inkling that choosing a lens would so difficult.....

On the radar at the moment is a Canon 24-105 and a longer zoom. The question I keep asking myself though is 'Do I need a 70 -200?'

Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

My current interest is wildlife and landscape photography and I have had a bit of fun with night time photography too.

Anyway, all the best.

Brian.

Hello Brian and Welcome to AP.. If you are asking if you need a certain size lens then I would say you don't need it :D
I could give you three options for a Landscapes lens but Photography is not a cheap hobby

If you are into wildlife or Birds it would be better to have a longer lens than the 70-200mm I have the f/4 its a great lens good for portraits also and lighter than the f/2.8 though for wildlife and Birds the reach is not long enough so think about the 100-400mm or the 400mm or even longer..

Welcome Brian!
Definately a 70-200 2.8 if you can, if your camera is crop sensor (sorry I am Nikon so I dont know about your camera) you can get extention tubes to bring it out to 600MM if you want.
Having said that it is all expensive BUT the end result when you look at an image you have taken can be priceless.:)

plenty of forums on here that cater for your needs :th3:
