Almost a year ago I asked about using room air conditiong to lower the humidity in the room/studio that I keep all my photography gear in. Lance B suggested to just buy a De-Humidfying cabinet.

This really has been one of the best investment that I've ever bought. It's so simple to use, just plug in, set the humidity level and put your gear in and it's then stored in a completely dust free enviroment at a set RH% level.

We have been having in excess of 90% humidity for weeks, it can actually even be higher in the colder winter months. I just don't have to worry about my gear anymore.

Thanks Lance!

I happen to have a cupboard that's relatively airtight and I put in a Cli-mate Midi dehumidifier (cost less than $150). Works like a charm and I even dry fungi specimens in there.

That sounds good Steve, I looked at heaps of DIY options, but I haven't heard of the dehumidifier that you purchased.

Because of the humid weather we have been experiencing, I've just bought this Dry Box with Hygrometer and Electronic De-Humidifier for $90.00 delivered.

I should have it by this time next week, so I'll report back with my impressions.

Well I ordered it Friday and it arrived today. Very quick.

Plugged the silicone pack into a power point and when the beads turned blue I put in the dry box.

The Hygrometer was showing over 50% when I put it in, which is what the humidity is at the moment, and within an hour or so it has dropped to 20%, so I guess it is a big :th3:

It will fit my camera, 300mm lens, 150 macro, the 70-200 f2.8 on my wish-list, and several other lens easily.

For $90.00 on my doorstep, I thing it is cheap insurance for $5K + worth of gear.
