Nikkor 16-35mm

I spent yesterday afternoon visiting camera shops in Perth trying to buy a 16-35mm. No one had one in stock and their prices varied quite widely. Do I have to order from outside Aus to get one of these? Any suggestions or pointers to a reliable, realistically priced source?

It isn't a super common lens, and not a cheap kit one either, so stock at all but the big camera retailers will be slim I imagine.

There are a number of offshore suppliers sponsoring this site, they are reputable and will almost certainly have stock.

I personally would have no hesitation buying it offshore, you will save $ and probably get it faster than a local store could obtain stock if you ordered it.
