For what purpose are you compiling a portfolio?

Without knowing a bit more about your situation, it's difficult to provide any advice.

agree with Xenedis. We need more information. Is it a print portfolio, digital? Is it meant for someone to hold and go through, or layout on a large table? We need more information before we can advise with accuracy

Per Xenedis comment, bigger is better (no smaller than 8x10/12", no larger than 10/12x18", if printed), they become too hard to review if bigger. Most professional folios which came through our agency were often no bigger than 14-18" square. Always put your best image first and work back from there.

Also, as John said, this is often dependent upon context & content.

portfolio is for tafe copy for them to keep course is cert 4 photo imaging
all they asked for was 10 images to discuss with them

did them as 8x12 satin look ok
