ball and socket arm

I browsing a few DYI sites the other day and found a setup where someone had created a ball and socket "flexible arm" that attached to a tripod leg and had an alligator clamp on the other end to hold a reflector/photo subject/etc. Has anyone heard of this and know where I can get one, or find sturdy enough parts to build my own? Sorry I don't have a picture. The arm was made of the same components as the legs on a flexible Joby tripod.

You probably just need a super clamp or similar to attach it to your tripod. There are a lot of variations of these on ebay too.

You could also just buy a Magic Arm (ball and socket type) or similar from Manfrotto buy a clip from the hardware store and attach it via simple DIY means.

About the only place I've seen the Wimberly Plamp is at a shop near Broadway in Sydney, called Broadway Photographics(?) or something like that.
I bought one for myself a month or so ago, an they are priced around $50 or so.

Great little gadget for holding onto flowers so they won't wave around in the breeze.
