Saw some landscapes on AP.... I had never heard of the Capertee Valley :o..... so did some research and was thrilled to see it is noted (amongst other things) internationally for its bird life.
Thinking I might take a trip up there from Vic...may be later this month.
I was wondering whether many AP'ers have visited/stayed/live in the area. If so, I would love to hear about the area.... in particular locations for photographing birds, recommendations of places to stay, any gold in the area (looking to keep hubby happy).
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Lal

Are you 4 wheel driving?
Rylstone has some pub accommodation. Mudgee has plenty of motels, though best to book ahead. Lots B&B's around.
Google can be a friend.
This is the type of accommodation in the valley. http://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/nsw/explorer-country/glen-davis-capertee-valley?view=list
The last bit of this sums up some birding :confused013 http://www.bmbirding.com.au/valley3.html
Don't think there's much gold down there.
It's certainly worth looking at Bylong Valley also.
I'll ask around, though it may not be until next week that I post anything useful.
If you plan to make it to Mudgee, PM me.

We have a 4 wheel drive.
Thanks for the links I've checked them out plus some others I found.
Thinking we'd try to book at a B & B on a property so we had access to some private property..... will be VIC school hols so not confident of securing a booking.
I'll see what I can find about the Bylong Valley - Thanks!
Thanks for your help - much appreciated. :)
Not sure where Mudgee is I'll check it out.
Thanks again Mark .
