It's weird to think they've been capturing images of the Earth's surface for 40 continuous years using this(or these) satellite(s).

So now they have a timelapse of the changes that Earth has undergone over 40 years from a birdseye view, and the changes can really only be described as startling.

The decimation of the Aral Sea is an absolute tragedy!

Thanks to a serious petabyte collection of photos, it's here that we get to see the darker side of human short sightedness from an external point of view.

I've been using Landsat data for years. Amazing that it started the year I was born and has been going ever since. Thanks for this great post.
