Canon has announced that its production lines will be replaced completely by robots as early as 2015. They say all staff will be employed in other areas of the company. So Canon gear will not get the human touch that it has in the past, from as early as 2015.

Meanwhile, Sony has announced that, as the technology leader, it has already implemented extensive automation. For the last three years, all Sony press releases and promotional statements have been issued by the life-like robots in the publicity office.

Nikon continues to fly under the radar, but does not intend to be outdone. Top-secret research over the past five years is now bearing fruit: more than 50% of Nikon-related forum posts are now made by robots, with the proportion expected to increase as the technology roll-out continues.
