This is a lament mainly for the astrophotography people.

Today I rang two astro supply places in Sydney to ask about Baader Film for the upcoming Transit of Venus.
I didn't like their replies:
1. From BinTel: Our supplier said they're not supplying it any more!!!
2. From Astro-Optical Supplies: We choose not to stock it!!!

So where do I get it from now without importing it?
Does anybody know???

And I've tried to kick myself for not going past BinTel earlier and getting some. Even that doesn't work!

Woe! Alack and Alas! And a bit of teeth-gnashing.

:(m.

G'day AM

Several thousand years ago - back in film days - I got hold of some Kodak Wratten acetate filters suitable for use to view / photograph the sun ... can't remember their code number, but they may be still available 'somewhere'

Regards, Phil

Ta, Phil. I can't remember a such in Wratten, though I had a 100X gel filter - not for solar work, though.

Ta also, John. In my haste (making waste) late yester-pm I plain 4-got about them. I guess I was more after Sydney suppliers, but I will contact them.

Am to both.

Ohh! PS, John. What ND grade did you get, 3.8 or 5? I'd be careful about the 3.6. It's only some 6000X.

Well, I have tracked down a place that used to be called York Optical in Sydney. (I won't tell you) they've got some (in case you buy it all up). I'm checking them out on Monday.
