I'm not quite new to photography but have just recenty upgraded from an old Pentax DSLR to a Canon 550D and have slowly upgraded lens from the standard kit lenses. One question I have early on is how do you stop buying lenses when you have enough already

Welcome to AP. Easiest way to stop buying gear is to get a decent sized bag and put all your gear in it, then go for a 5km walk with said bag. The weight will soon convince you that you need to stop buying...hehe
