Hi everyone,\

I've just joined Ausphotography and looking forward to sharing and learning with you all. I've been an amateur photographer for a few years and have just upgraded to a Canon 7D from my first DSLR, a Canon 400D. I prefer landscape and seascape photography but have a 70-200 on the way which I plan to do some action sports photography with. off road motorcycle racing etc. I haven't done much of this and hope to gain some tips from some of you here...

Here's a link to my Flickr account if any one is interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/ditto65/

Cheers

Welcome to AP! I had a look at some of your photos on Flickr - you do a beautiful job of capturing scenes of the Pilbara. :th3: I lived in Karratha from 1970 to 1988 and just love that red dirt - I think it must be in my blood! :) Looking forward to seeing more of your work on the forum.

Welcome to AP :) This is a great site and you will find everyone here very friendly and helpful. I also have a 7D which was an upgrade from a 400D and I love it!! I used to live in Newman in the early 90's and love seeing pics from the Pilbra. Looking forward to seeing some pics in the forums soon!

Hi and Welcome. I do look forward to viewing your photos as I worked in the Pilbara from 77 - 80. Helped build Karratha, build the first of the steel framed houses (cyclone proof), worked and lived in Roebourne, Cape Lambert and spend many hrs traveling the area and fishing the insane fishing around the coast and islands and snuk into pond 0 to pinch the over grown fish from the pump in pond at Dampier salt. :-)
Fond memories - whim creek pub, amateur prospecting, Mill stream was an unknown place in those days and a pretty rough drive to get there too.

I imagine it is a vastly different place these days and was a pretty rough place to be in the 70's. Very interested to see your photos.

So may ex pilbaraites here! I lived in roebourne and Karratha from 1993 to 2000. Some great spots for pics up there, Gregory's Gorge, Millstream, Python Pool... And the archipelago is awesome if u can put ur line away long enough to pick up a camera!
