Pentax 645D ~~FEVER~~ Digital Medium Format SLR

http://pentaxdslrs.blogspot.com/2010...-vegas-on.html
Quote:
The Pentax 645 Digital Medium Format SLR has been the subject of many discussions in the past year. As far as I know, it is still to be launched this coming Spring and will be produced in a limited quantity to test the market first. It will only be available in Japan, and everywhere else if successful. We all know that if you want one, Adorama and B&H Photo will be able to get some.
Hmmm... That is going to be very interesting - all rumours in this thread.

After reading about some of the great MF Pentax lenses available for decent prices(in Photo Trader) I started searching out for more into on these 645 series Pentax cameras a few years ago too.

The only concern I had for the 645 series was the serious mirror slap problem it had, where mirror lockup was essential in many cases.

Looks to be a great system, as long as the price is right.
Considering Pentax's current DSLR pricing, if this MF system comes in at high end DSLR prices(eg D3s 1Ds MkIV levels), it'd make for a compelling alternative

I would buy one for fashion/studio/wedding shoots definitely, but only if the sensor can be upgradable in the future such as Phase One and Hasselblad MF backs - to make it more competitive and have longetivity in the market.
