    Where to purchase?

Can anyone suggest a good place in Australia to purchase a Sigma 50-500 lens for Canon 50D. I dont particularly want to buy from OS.

what are you looking for, cheapest price, after sales service, online store, or bricks and mortar store?

probably the cheapest price. I dont mind buying online as there are no real bricks and mortar stores in my area except for Harvey and Bing.I am also after the OS model. there has been a couple of used ones for sale but they are not the stabilized model.

probably the cheapest price, I dont mind buying online and the only stores near me are Harvey and Bing Lee. I have seen a couple of these lenses for sale second hand but they were not the stabilized model and as this lens is for the mrs I would like a stabilizer model

With Sigma, find an online price, and then contact them on their Australian distributors website www.crkennedy.com.au
Often, they will arrange a price match. All Australian stock etc. I hope I am not in breach of site rules for bringing this up, this is not to take away from the site sponsors. CR themselves aren't a store, they're a supplier and don't usually deal direct to the public.

I don't know that CRK will sell directly to the public, I think they will supply the pricematch lens via a local retailer...

Yep, but you need to first contact CRK and prove the price point you have found, they will then put you in contact with a local retailer to go to and get it at their 'new' price, from my understanding. That is how it worked for me anyway.

I just spoke to CRK and they said go to a local retailer and take the web link to the lens I want to buy, they will then notify CRK who will check the price and then send a lens to the retailer at the web price. I phoned the retailer and he just laughed so I wont be buying of him at his inflated price. Looks like DWI for me.
